YATF ART FAIR 2007 DESIGN



YATF ART FAIR 2007
Alexandria – Egypt

From 19th to 21st of October 2007, YATF (Young Arab Theatre Fund) organized in Alexandria (Egypt), The Second informal meeting for independent cultural spaces in the Arab region.



800 plastic crates of Pepsi cola were the design units used to set the space (counters of each exhibitor, the entrance gate, the windows, chairs, landscape furniture …)The crates were specially manufactured for the Fair in white translucent surface instead of the blue colour of Pepsi. At the end of the fair the crates was returned to the factory to be recycled again to Pepsi Cola blue crates.

42 independent spaces attended the Art fair where each participant had his own space to show their production of Films , Music in CD’s or DVD’s, publications of books , brochures, catalogues, posters…






The Art Fair was designed and installed by two young architects from Alexandria, Egypt, Ahmed Hussein Ezzat (Design) and Mohamed Abdelmoaty (Construction)The fair was installed in a hall of 25m x8m and 5 m high at the Jesuit Cultural Centre of Alexandria.

The whole exhibition was set and demolished by two persons in a single day.By Egyptian standards the set coast 10 $ for each exhibitor’s stand instead of 80 $ if it was made of wood, which was a very low budget for an art fair.
